Hello Community,

since some weeks I want to start Lightroom Classic CC on my notebook, but nothing happens, also no error message appears. I already uninstalled the application and installed it again, but again nothing happend. I changed the gpu settings which were perfect befor but also again, nothing happend.

My Dell XPS15 works fine and I cannot remember at a error in the past. Suddenly there is this error.

When I try to start Lightroom, it appears in the task manager of Windows but I can't see it. The Lightroom splash screen is missing too.

Does somebody know about this issue?

How to make LR smart collection as smart as C1's smart album?

I really like the smart album function of Capture one and wanted to implement the same in Lightroom. I still think the Lightroom editing functions are better.

I found the plugin: Jeffrey’s “Collection Publisher” Lightroom Plugin

It is almost perfect except it makes use of the smart collection functionality of LR and that isn't as smart as the smart album functionality from C1.

Let me explain with this example. This is the C1 smart album functionality:

c1-smartalbum.png

And this is the LR smart collection with Jeffrey's plugin:

LR smart collection.png

There are two steps.

First: I want all photos containing the name and 5 star rating. (That is because I don't want all photos of that team in the collection)

Second: I want some race photos in the collection with 5 star rating.

The point is, the race photos are for all other teams too, so they don't have the team name in the discription.

In C1 you can match multiple groups of rules. So I get the team photos and I will get the race photos in my collection and I am happy.

In LR you can only match 1 group of rules so I have to put those race photos manually in all racing team folders afterwards.

Is it possible to make the LR smart collection smarter?

Can't uninstall old Lightroom / Bridge versions

Hoping someone can help as Adobe Support apparently can't...

I have a old version of Lightroom Classic CC (7.0.1) and Bridge (8.) lingering on my PC and I can't remove them. The Add/ remove programs dialogue on Windows 10 says they are there but the Creative Cloud app only shows the latest version. I have clicked uninstall 10+ times but nothing happens.

I have now deleted Lightroom CC and Bridge using the Creative Cloud app but Windows still says the old ones are there. Seeing as I have deleted them in Creative CIoud, the Creative Cloud Cleanup tool which I downloaded doesn't recognise either app as being installed, therefore doesn't give an option to uninstall.

So... Creative Cloud says the old apps aren't there but Windows says they are. Any idea how I can delete them, seeing as the Cleanup tool doesn't work?

Many thanks for any help.

Camera profile is missing after update to 7.4

Probably after recent updates we have a bug between Camera RAW and Lightroom.

The problem also occurs

here Camera Raw profiles are missing (Matrix is shown instead)

and here camera matching profiles missing in Adobe Raw

I use Lightroom Classic CC on 3 Mac computers (2 CC plans). On my Mac Mini and MacBook Pro Retina everything are OK, but on this one my Adobe RAW and Camera profiles are missing. I can see only a Matrix profile (??).

2nd location:

I have the latest Camera RAW update. Yes I'm selecting RAW (NEF) files. After last update I don't have any Adobe profiles, Fuji X100 and Nikon Camera profiles (D800E and D810). The computer is Mac Pro, High Sierra 10.13.5 (as on all computers) and Lightroom 7.4 Classic CC on my 3 computers.

Zrzut ekranu 2018-06-25 17.40.06.png

7 days ago when I LR 7.4 comes I've update my Photoshop, Lightroom and install Bridge. I believe that the problem was caused by Bridge install, which I have not used for years and I was tempted to see what is going on in the application. I don't have Bridge installed on the other 2 computers - and I have on them my profiles.

Yesterday I tried to get help through chat but unfortunately I came across an employee who is not familiar with Lightroom. [case number ADB-2638586-M4D7] We did a remote session. He was not oriented in profiles at all, he had to show the problem, he clicked on the labels that are not used for clicking.

We have determined that in Lightroom 6 the profiles work and I have been left with the information that the technicians will work on the repair.

1,5 hours lost.

What I did myself after chat, I removed Bridge, just do a downgrade from Lightroom Classic CC 7.4 to Lightroom 7.3.1 and profiles are display. The problem isn't in Lightroom 7.4 because everything works on two other computers.

I also found a "Manage Profiles" window when you click the right mouse button:

What I have:

What I should have:

Two sections which are on MacBook Pro and are missing on Mac Pro:

Can anyone help?

Tethering update

So the latest update improves tethering speed (which has been notoriously bad) - but only for Canon cameras. Can we expect a similar update for Nikon cameras in the near future?

How do I hide rejected images while showing all others?

$

I want to set the filter to display only unrated and rated images so that rejected images disappear from the view as soon as I type "X" and move on to the next image.  Then I want go through my rejects to make sure they are all duds before deleting them permanently, and i don't want to see them again until I do that.  I can display one star or greater, but I can't figure out how to display unrated or greater  Surely this is user error and not poorly designed filtering.

Lightroom 8.0 doesn't show correct image from filmstrip

Mac OS High Sierra, 2013 desktop Mac. It seems the new Lightroom 8.0 still has some bugs. I cannot get the image selected in filmstrip to show up in the main viewing area in Develop or Print.  In Library module it only changes if you double click a thumbnail. In print nothing I do changes the printing image. What is selected in the filmstrip is not necessarily what shows up in the print window.

Dissapointing. I have gone back to Lightroom 7.5.

Using Basic Tone VS. Tone Curve to adjust Photos?

$

0

After adjusting exposure, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks, I achieve what I consider to be nice contrast.

1. Why would I now need to adjust my RGB curve to increase brightness/contrast with single points or with an S -Curve? Is this essentially doing the same thing as what I did previously? Is it just another way of doing basic exposure/contrast to an image?

2. Does it make sense to skip over the Basic Tone sliders and just do everything with the RGB curve in the Tone Curve panel?

Thanks.

How do i get out of the Lightroom help black hole?

My issue (Lightroom Classic to CC migration) set of issues has been going on for two weeks. I've thrice been promised that it would be escalated to tier 2 but have never received the promised follow up. At present, Adobe seems to have shut down both their chat and phone support (been waiting an hour) despite being in their core hours. Does anyone know a way to contact LIghtroom help such that they will actually respond? And ideally, follow through on their promised tier 2 escalation?

can't add color to photo

I have a bunch of images I downloaded from a site of old documents.  The image are black and white and I have added a little color to each one, but am now at in image which will not allow me to add color.  The Profile for this image is monochrome and unlike the other images, does not give the option for color.  Is there no way to add color to a monochrome image if its profile doesn't reflect that?  Thank you.

White Balance Picker

Ok...I've always thought when using the white balance picker it was weird but just the way it was, everytime I click to pick a spot for white balance the little eye dropper goes back to its little place. If I want to use it again I have to go pick it up again and while fine its a little annoying.

Well I saw a demo the other day someone using the eyedropper for white balance in the basic panel. It didn't go back they were able to click and click and click without having to go pick it up again. Then they could just go click to put it away. What is the secret to using the white balance eye dropper this way! Please let me in!

Having a terrible time with people tags

$

I have been using Lightroom CC 2015.5. I am using People tags to identify faces for family history stuff. It is alot of work. I have been working diligently through the photos and I am having several problems:

1. People tags are not persisting from one session to another.

2. The wrong tags as being assigned to people wreaking havoc in my world.

I have tried multi-select and adding (using control key and click in unnamed people as well as single select. It is really driving me nuts almost to the point of looking for other software that allows me to tag faces (and write to JPEG metadata).  Has anyone else experienced these sorts of peoples with people tagging?

Extra numbers added to sequence number

$

On importing I use Custom file name and set the start number sequence.  I select File Name & Sequence number,   On import there are extra numbers added after the sequence number.  In some cases the extra numbers appear to be the total number of photos on card at that point where the photo is imported (e.g., if I import ten photos and select to number them 1 through 10 but they are the 200 to 210 photos on the card, the displayed sequence number will be 1200 through 10210); however, this may not be true for all cases.  At any rate, how do I stop the extra numbers from being added to the sequence number I have selected?   Using LR 6 stand alone.

Algorithm of Highlights and Shadow sliders in Lightroom

The results of local contrast adjustment in a picture when using Highlights and Shadows sliders in Lightroom really impress me. I am curious about the algorithm behind these two sliders.

Does anybody has any ideas about the algorithm behind the Highlights and Shadows sliders in Lightroom. Anyone is welcome to come here for discussion!
